MAG box portal setup
MAG boxes work differently to everything else on this site. There's no username, no password and no app to install — the box identifies itself by its MAC address, and we have to register that on our side before it will connect to anything.
Why MAG is different
MAG boxes aren't Android devices. They run their own Linux-based system built specifically for IPTV portals, which is why there's no app store, no sideloading and no player to choose. The box itself is the player.
You log in
You install a player app, then enter a username, password and server URL. The credentials identify you, and the same login works on any device you install it on.
The box is identified
You enter a portal address only. The box is recognised by its MAC address, which is unique to that unit and has to be registered with us first. Nothing else is entered anywhere.
What your box can do
The model number is printed on the sticker underneath. It determines picture quality more than anything else, and the older units are genuinely limited.
| Model | Max quality | Ethernet | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MAG 250 / 254 | HD (1080p) | Yes | Long discontinued. Works, but slow menus and no 4K. |
| MAG 256 / 322 / 324 | HD (1080p) | Yes | Noticeably faster than the 250 series. Still HD only. |
| MAG 349 / 351 | HD (1080p) | Yes | Later HD generation with more memory. |
| MAG 420 / 424 | 4K | Yes | First 4K-capable models. Suitable for UHD channels. |
| MAG 520 / 540 | 4K | Yes | Current generation. The best MAG option for 4K. |
Five steps to watching
Find your MAC address
Every MAG has a unique MAC printed on a sticker underneath the box, and shown on screen in the system menu. It always begins with the same manufacturer prefix.
Settings›System Settings›About
- Twelve characters in six pairs, separated by colons
- The first three pairs are always 00:1A:79 on a genuine MAG
- Copy it exactly — 8 and B, 0 and D are the usual misreadings
Send it to us and wait for confirmation
This is the step that has no equivalent on any other device, and skipping it is why most MAG setups fail. We add your MAC to the server, and only then will the portal respond to your box.
- Message us on WhatsApp with the MAC address and your MAG model
- We register it and send back your portal address
- Usually a few minutes during support hours
- Do not enter anything on the box until you have that confirmation
Enter the portal address
One field, one address. There is no username or password anywhere in this process.
Settings›System Settings›Servers›Portals
- Portal 1 name — anything you like, such as "IPTV Ireland"
- Portal 1 URL — the exact address we sent, including
http://and any trailing path - Leave Portal 2 empty
- Press OK to save, then exit back to System Settings
/c/ or /stalker_portal/c/. Dropping it produces a loading screen that never finishes, which looks like a server problem and isn't.
Restart the box
MAG boxes only read the portal setting at startup, so nothing happens until it reboots. Backing out of the menu isn't enough.
System Settings›Restart Portal
- Use Restart Portal if it's in the menu; otherwise unplug for thirty seconds
- The box loads the portal and your channel list appears
- First load takes up to a minute on a large lineup
Set the time zone
Last step, and it's what makes the programme guide line up with what's actually on.
Settings›System Settings›Time & Date
- Set the time zone to Europe / Dublin, and enable automatic time
- Avoid a fixed GMT offset — it drifts an hour out every summer once Ireland moves to Irish Standard Time
- Allow up to fifteen minutes for the guide to populate the first time
If something isn't right
MAG problems cluster tightly around three causes, and two of them are typing.
"Portal not found" or endless loading
Usually the address. Check every character including any trailing path such as /c/. If it's definitely right, your MAC may not be registered yet — message us to confirm.
"Authorization failed"
The portal responded but doesn't recognise the box. That means the MAC we registered doesn't match the one the box is using — send us the MAC exactly as shown on screen and we'll compare it.
It worked, now it doesn't
Check whether the box moved between Wi-Fi and ethernet. Some MAG models report a different MAC for each, so the registered one no longer matches. Tell us which you're using and we'll register the right one.
Picture stutters on HD channels
Older MAGs have limited processing headroom. Use the ethernet port rather than Wi-Fi, and try the SD version of a channel to confirm it's the box rather than your line.
MAG questions
MAG boxes do not use a username and password. The box identifies itself to the portal by its MAC address, so we have to register that address on our server before the portal will respond to it. Nothing else is entered on the box.
Yes. We can supply a portal address for the MAG and Xtream Codes credentials for other devices on the same subscription. Your plan still limits how many can stream at the same moment.
Send us the new MAC address and we will move your subscription across. The old box stops working once the change is made, since the registration is tied to a specific MAC rather than to an account.
Only the 420, 424, 520 and 540 models. Everything earlier, including the widely used 250, 254 and 322, is limited to HD by the hardware. No setting will change that on an older box.
If you already own one, yes — MAG boxes are stable, wired by default and perfectly good for HD viewing. If you are buying something new, a Firestick 4K or Android box costs less and offers more flexibility.
Emulator apps on Android present a MAC address in the same way a real box does, so the same registration process applies. Send us the MAC the app is presenting and we will register that instead.

Send us your MAC address
Message us with your MAC and MAG model and we'll register the box and send your portal address, usually within minutes.
