IPTV Smarters Pro setup guide

The quickest player to get running and the one available on the widest range of devices. One screen, three fields, and you're watching — plus the handful of settings worth changing afterwards that most guides never mention.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL

Make sure it's the right app

Search any app store for "IPTV Smarters" and you'll get a page of results with near-identical names and icons. Some are legitimate variants from the same developer; others are unrelated apps trading on the name. Installing the wrong one is the most common way a straightforward setup turns into an afternoon.

AppWhat it isUse it when
IPTV Smarters Pro The main app. Full features, Xtream Codes and M3U support. Default choice
Smarters Player Lite Lighter build from the same developer, fewer features. Older or slower devices
Anything else similar Unrelated apps using a similar name or icon. Avoid
Only install from an official source. That means your device's own app store where the app is listed, or the developer's own website. Third-party APK mirror sites are the usual way streaming devices pick up unwanted software, and a modified player can behave badly no matter how good your subscription is.

STEP BY STEP

Four steps to watching

1

Install the app

Where it comes from depends on your device. On some it's a normal store install; on a Firestick it usually needs sideloading, which is covered in its own guide.

2

Choose Xtream Codes login

On first launch the app asks how you want to add your account. It offers two routes, and which you pick has real consequences for what you get.

  • Choose Login with Xtream Codes API wherever possible — it loads the programme guide and sorts the film library automatically
  • Choose Load Your Playlist or File/URL only if you were sent an M3U link instead
  • Accept the terms prompt if one appears

3

Enter your details

Three fields, all of them case-sensitive. Take your time here — the large majority of "invalid login" reports are typing errors rather than account problems.

  • Any name — a label for you, so call it whatever you like
  • Username and Password exactly as we sent them on WhatsApp
  • Server URL including http:// and the port number if one was supplied
  • Select Add User — channels take up to a minute to load first time

Set the time zone

Do this before anything else, because it's what makes the seven-day guide line up with what's actually on.

SettingsGeneralTime Format & Zone
  • Set the time zone to Europe / Dublin — not a fixed GMT offset
  • Enable automatic EPG update so listings refresh daily
  • Allow up to fifteen minutes for the first guide download
Europe / Dublin rather than GMT. A fixed GMT offset is correct in winter and exactly one hour behind from late March to late October, when Ireland moves to Irish Standard Time. The named zone follows the clock change on its own. More on guide timing →

WORTH CHANGING

Four settings most guides never mention

The app works out of the box, but these four make a real difference — and the first one resolves problems people usually report as stream faults.

Setting 01 · the important one

Change the decoder

If a channel plays with a green or pink screen, audio but no picture, or picture but no audio, the decoder is the fix — not the stream. In playback settings, switch between the hardware and software decoder options and try the channel again. Different channels encode differently, and one decoder handles what another can't.

Setting 02

Turn off auto-play on channel change

By default the player starts streaming each channel as you scroll past it. On a Firestick that means constant buffering while you browse the guide, which feels exactly like a bad connection but isn't. Switching it off makes navigation noticeably smoother.

Setting 03

Hide the categories you don't watch

The lineup is large. In the channel or category settings, hide the groups you'll never use — foreign-language sections, regional variants, adult categories if children use the device. The guide becomes far more usable once it shows only what you actually watch.

Setting 04

Set your preferred stream format

Where the app offers a choice of stream format, leaving it on the default is usually right. If specific channels stutter while others are fine, trying the alternative format is worth a minute before assuming a server problem.

FIXES
TROUBLESHOOTING

If something isn't right

"Invalid username or password"

Almost always a typing error — capital letters or a trailing space picked up while copying. Paste the details into a notes app and read them back character by character before messaging us. If they're definitely correct, the line may have expired.

Green screen or no picture

Switch the decoder in playback settings between hardware and software, then reopen the channel. This is a device-side decoding issue rather than a stream fault, and it's the single most useful setting in the app.

Channels load but the guide is empty

If you're on Xtream Codes, allow fifteen minutes and force a refresh. If you're on an M3U link, there is no guide data at all — you need the separate XMLTV address, or switch to Xtream Codes.

App is slow or crashes

Clear the app's cache in your device settings, then restart the device at the plug. On older hardware, Smarters Player Lite uses less memory and is worth trying instead of the full app.

Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp with your device and what's on screen. Setup support is included with every subscription and with free trials.

Smarters questions

The app itself is generally free to install. It is third-party software made by another company, so any charge it applies is theirs rather than ours, and it is entirely separate from your subscription with us.

Start with Smarters. It is quicker to set up and runs on more devices. TiviMate has a better guide layout, channel management and recording, so most people move to it eventually — but the first setup is easier here.

This is a decoding issue on your device rather than a stream fault. Switch between the hardware and software decoder options in playback settings and reopen the channel. Different channels encode differently, so one decoder handles what the other cannot.

Yes. You can install the app and your credentials on as many devices as you like. What your plan limits is how many can stream at the same moment — one at a time on a 1-device plan, two on a 2-device plan.

Install only from your device's own app store where the app is listed, or from the developer's own website. Several unrelated apps use similar names and icons, and third-party APK mirror sites are the usual source of modified versions.

Normally yes — your account details and preferences survive app updates. Uninstalling and reinstalling clears them, so you would need to enter your credentials again, which is worth noting before you reinstall to fix something.
