Xtream Codes vs M3U — what the fields mean
Every IPTV player asks for one of two things: three separate fields, or one long web address. They deliver the same subscription in different ways, and knowing which is which explains most of the problems people run into — particularly a missing programme guide.
What Xtream Codes actually is
Xtream Codes is not an app, and it's not something you download. It's a way for a player to talk to a server — a common language that most IPTV apps understand. When a player offers "Xtream Codes login" or "Login with Xtream Codes API", it means it can ask the server directly for your channel list, film library and programme guide.
The alternative is an M3U playlist, which is much older and far simpler. An M3U is essentially a text file listing every channel and where to find it. The player downloads that file and reads it. It works perfectly well, but because it's just a list, it carries no programme guide with it — that has to be fetched separately.
That single difference explains a large share of setup complaints. If someone tells us their channels work but the guide is empty, the first question is almost always whether they used the M3U link or the three fields.
The three fields
This is what an Xtream Codes login asks for. The examples below are illustrative — yours arrive on WhatsApp when your line is activated.
Server URL
The address of the server holding your channels. Some players call it Portal, Host, or simply URL — they all mean the same thing.
- Include http:// or https:// at the front — a lot of players won't connect without it
- Include the port number after the colon if we supplied one
- No trailing slash, and nothing after the port
- Don't paste a full M3U link here — that's a different field entirely
Username
Your account identifier on that server. It's usually a short random string rather than anything you chose, and it is case-sensitive.
- Type it exactly — l and 1, 0 and O are the usual mix-ups
- No spaces before or after, which is easy to introduce when copying on a phone
- It is not your email address
Password
Also case-sensitive, and also usually generated rather than chosen. Together with the username it identifies your line and enforces your device limit.
- Some remotes make capital letters awkward — take your time on this one
- If a player has a "show password" toggle, use it and check before submitting
- Never share these with anyone. Sharing breaches our Terms and can suspend the line

What the errors actually mean
Player error messages are famously unhelpful. Here's what each one usually indicates, in order of how often we see it.
Almost always a typing error, particularly capital letters or a trailing space picked up while copying. Check character by character. If it's definitely correct, the line may have expired — message us and we'll confirm.
Usually the server URL. Check http:// is at the front and the port number is after the colon. Also try switching between http and https — some players are strict about which they'll accept.
Another device is already streaming on your line. This is the device limit working as intended, not a fault. Close the stream elsewhere, or move to a 2-device plan if two people need to watch at once.
The login worked but nothing loaded. Force a refresh in the player's settings, then restart the app completely. If it's still empty after a restart, send us a screenshot and we'll check the line from our end.
You're most likely on an M3U link without a separate XMLTV address. Ask us for the guide URL, or switch to Xtream Codes if your player supports it and it loads on its own.
If everything else plays, it's that specific channel rather than your setup. Tell us the channel name and we'll look at it — that's a server-side matter and squarely our responsibility.
Treat credentials like a password
Your username and password are the whole subscription. Anyone holding them can use your line, and because the device limit counts connections rather than people, a shared login shows up as you being locked out mid-match.
Sharing credentials breaches our Terms of Service and is grounds for suspension without refund. That's not a threat so much as a description of how the limit works: if three people are using a 1-device line, none of them can watch reliably, and the account looks compromised from our side.

No. It is a method players use to talk to a server, not a piece of software. When an app offers Xtream Codes login, it means it can request your channels, films and programme guide from the server directly.
Usually because you are using an M3U playlist, which carries no guide data on its own. Either add the separate XMLTV address, or switch to Xtream Codes if your player supports it, since that loads the guide automatically.
Yes. They are two ways of reaching one subscription, so you can use Xtream Codes on a Firestick and the M3U link on a smart television simultaneously. Your plan still limits how many streams can run at once.
If we supplied one, yes — include it after the colon exactly as sent. Some servers use a standard port and will connect without it, but entering it as given avoids a connection error that looks like wrong credentials.
Another device is already streaming on your line. A 1-device plan allows one at a time and a 2-device plan allows two. Close the stream on the other device, or upgrade if two people need to watch different channels at once.
They are generated rather than chosen, but we can reissue them at any time. Ask us and the old ones stop working immediately, which is worth doing if you think anyone else has your details.
