IPTV setup on Samsung & LG smart TVs
No stick, no box, nothing extra plugged in. Smart TV setup works differently to a Firestick — instead of typing a login into the television, you register your TV's MAC address and upload your playlist from a phone or computer. Here's the whole process.
Why smart TVs work differently
On a Firestick you type a username and password into the device. On a Samsung or LG television, most IPTV apps don't have a login screen at all. Instead the app shows you your TV's MAC address, and you go to the app developer's website on a phone or laptop and attach your playlist to that address. The television then picks it up.

Search your TV's app store for these names. Not all four appear on every model or in every region, so take whichever you can actually find — they all work identically with your line.

Five steps to watching
Find your TV's MAC address
This is the identifier the app uses to recognise your television. Write it down exactly, including the colons — it's twelve characters in six pairs.

- Look for Wireless MAC if the TV is on Wi-Fi, or Wired MAC if it's on ethernet
- These are two different addresses — use the one matching how the TV actually connects
- Most apps also display the MAC on their own welcome screen, which is easier to read
Install the app from your TV's store
Everything here comes from the official Samsung or LG store. There's no sideloading on a smart television and nothing to enable in a hidden menu.
- Open Apps (Samsung) or the LG Content Store (LG)
- Search for the app you chose from the table above
- Select Install, then open it once it's finished
- The app displays your MAC address and a web address — note both down
Upload your playlist from a phone or laptop
This is the step that catches people out — it doesn't happen on the television. Open the web address the app showed you, on any device with a keyboard.
- Enter the MAC address from your TV screen
- Paste the M3U playlist URL we sent you on WhatsApp
- Give it a name so you recognise it later
- Select Send or Add link and wait for the confirmation
Restart the app on your TV
The app only reads the playlist when it starts, so it won't appear until you fully close and reopen it. Backing out to the menu isn't enough on most sets.
- Exit the app completely — press Home, then close it from the recent apps row
- Open it again; channels load within about a minute
- If nothing appears, turn the television off at the plug for thirty seconds

Set the time zone and load the guide
The seven-day programme guide only lines up with what's actually on if the television knows it's in Ireland. This is the single most common cause of a guide that looks wrong.
- In the app's settings, set the time zone to GMT / Europe – Dublin
- Enable the EPG or TV Guide option if it isn't on by default
- Allow up to fifteen minutes for the first guide download
- Hide the channel groups you'll never watch so the list stays manageable
If something isn't right
Smart TV problems cluster around four causes, and only one of them is the stream itself.
No channels after uploading
The app didn't restart properly, or the MAC address has a typo. Compare it character by character against the TV screen — a mistaken 8 for B is the usual culprit. Then power the TV off at the plug, not the remote.
The app isn't in my TV's store
Availability varies by model and region, and Samsung and LG occasionally remove apps. Try the alternatives in the table above. If none appear, your set is likely too old — a Firestick or Android box plugged into HDMI solves it entirely.
Stuttering on 4K channels
Smart TV apps have far less processing headroom than a dedicated box. Try the HD version of the same channel — if that's smooth, the television is the limit rather than your line. A wired connection helps more than anything else here.
It worked, now it doesn't
Two usual causes: the TV moved between Wi-Fi and ethernet so the MAC changed, or the app's free trial period ended and it wants its one-time fee. Both look like a subscription failure and neither is one.
Smart TV questions
No, provided your television is from 2016 or later and can install one of the IPTV apps. A stick only becomes necessary if your set is too old for the app stores, or if the built-in apps stutter on high-bitrate 4K channels.
That fee goes to the app developer, not to us. Most smart TV IPTV players charge a small one-time activation cost per television, usually under €10. It is entirely separate from your subscription and we receive none of it.
Samsung sets from 2016 onwards run Tizen and generally work. LG needs webOS 3.0 or later, which also means roughly 2016 onwards. Older televisions cannot install these apps, and a Firestick or Android box is the simplest answer.
Most smart TV apps accept only the M3U playlist format, because they load your list from the developer's server rather than logging in directly. It is the same subscription — just a different way of delivering it. Message us and we will send the M3U link.
Yes. You can install your line on as many devices as you like. What the plan limits is simultaneous streams — a 1-device plan allows one at a time, a 2-device plan allows two people to watch different channels at once.
Usually not. The playlist is stored against your MAC address on the app developer's server, so it survives updates. A factory reset does clear installed apps, and you would need to reinstall and confirm the MAC address again.
