MAC & DEVICE KEY ACTIVATION

IBO Player setup guide

Common on Samsung and LG televisions that can't run TiviMate. IBO activates using two values shown on your screen — a MAC address and a device key — which you enter on the app developer's website along with your playlist. Nothing is typed into the television itself.

You'll need your M3U link, not Xtream Codes

IBO loads channels from an M3U playlist address. If we sent you a username, password and server URL for a Firestick, those won't work here.

Message us and we'll send the matching M3U link — it's the same subscription in a different format, and it takes a minute. The difference explained →

BEFORE YOU INSTALL

Several apps share the name

Search a television app store for "IBO" and you'll typically find more than one result with a near-identical name and icon. They are separate applications with separate activations — a playlist registered against one will not appear in another, even on the same television.

The practical rule is simple: install one, note exactly which one it is, and register the playlist against that one. If you later install a different variant, you start the activation again from scratch.

This is the most common IBO problem we see. Someone registers a playlist, sees nothing, installs a second similarly-named app to try again, and now has two unactivated apps and one registration pointing at neither. Uninstall the extras and work with a single app.
KEYS
HOW ACTIVATION WORKS

Two values, one website

When IBO first opens it displays a screen with two identifiers. Both are needed, and both are shown together — write them down before going anywhere near a computer.

Value 1 · MAC address
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

Twelve characters in six pairs. This identifies the television or device, and it's the same MAC the set reports elsewhere in its own settings.

Value 2 · Device key
6 characters

A short code generated by the app itself. It's what separates IBO from apps that use the MAC alone, and it changes if you reinstall.

Photograph the screen. Both values appear together, and transcribing twelve hex characters from across a room is exactly where mistakes happen. A photo on your phone means you can zoom in while typing them on a laptop.
The device key changes if you reinstall the app. That's the difference between IBO and MAC-only apps — uninstalling and reinstalling to fix a problem invalidates your registration, and you'll need to register again with the new key.
SETUP
STEP BY STEP

Five steps to watching

1

Install the app

IBO appears in the Samsung and LG television stores, and on Android and Fire TV. Install one version only.

AppsSearch"IBO"
  • On Samsung, open Apps from the home screen and search
  • On LG, use the LG Content Store
  • On Android or Fire TV, install from the device's own store where listed
  • Note the exact app name you installed — you'll need to match it later
2

Open it and note both values

The first screen shows your MAC address, your device key, and the web address where you register. All three are on that one screen.

  • Write down or photograph the MAC address and device key
  • Note the web address the app displays — use exactly that one
  • Leave the television on this screen while you do the next step

Only use the address shown on your own screen. Search results for IBO include lookalike sites, and entering your details on the wrong one achieves nothing at best. The app tells you where to go — use that.
3

Register your playlist online

This happens on a phone or laptop, not on the television. It's the step people miss, because nothing about the on-screen prompt suggests you leave the room.

  • Open the web address from the app on any device with a keyboard
  • Enter the MAC address and device key exactly as displayed
  • Paste your M3U playlist URL and give it a name
  • Submit and wait for the confirmation message
Would rather we did it? Send us the MAC address and device key on WhatsApp and we'll register your playlist for you. It's a common request and takes a minute.
4

Restart the app fully

IBO reads the playlist only when it launches, so it won't appear until the app has been closed properly and reopened. Backing out to the menu is not enough on most televisions.

  • Press Home, then close the app from the recent apps row
  • Open it again — channels load within about a minute
  • If nothing appears, switch the television off at the plug for thirty seconds
5

Set the time zone

Last step, and it's what makes the programme guide match what's actually on.

  • In the app settings, set the time zone to Europe / Dublin
  • Check the television's own clock settings too — some sets pass the system time zone down to apps
  • Avoid a fixed GMT offset; it drifts an hour out every summer
  • Allow up to fifteen minutes for the guide to populate
ABOUT THE COST

IBO charges its own one-time fee

Like most smart television IPTV apps, IBO offers a short free period and then asks for a one-time activation payment — typically under €10, paid once per device.

That money goes to the app developer, not to us. We receive no part of it and it's entirely separate from your subscription. If you hit a payment screen shortly after setting up, this is what it is — not a second charge from IPTV Ireland.

Want to avoid it entirely? On an Android box or Firestick, TiviMate is free for a single playlist and has a considerably better guide. IBO earns its place on televisions where nothing better will install.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If something isn't right

No channels after registering

Check the MAC and device key character by character against the television screen — 8 for B is the usual slip. Then close the app fully and reopen it, or power the set off at the plug.

Registered but the app still asks to activate

Usually the playlist went to a different IBO variant than the one installed. Confirm you registered against the app actually on the television, and remove any other IBO apps.

It worked, now it doesn't

Either the free trial period ended and the app wants its one-time fee, or the television moved between Wi-Fi and ethernet and is now reporting a different MAC. Both look like a subscription failure and neither is one.

Guide is empty

An M3U playlist carries no guide data by itself. Ask us for the separate XMLTV address and add it in the app's EPG settings, then allow fifteen minutes for the first sync.

Still stuck? Send us your television brand, the exact app name, the MAC address and the device key. IBO problems are almost always resolvable once we can see which registration your device is actually looking for.

COMMON QUESTIONS

IBO Player questions

That fee goes to the app developer rather than to us. IBO offers a short free period and then charges a one-time activation cost per device, usually under €10. It is entirely separate from your subscription and we receive none of it.

IBO loads channels from an M3U playlist address rather than logging in directly, so Xtream Codes credentials will not work. It is the same subscription in a different format — message us and we will send the M3U link.

The device key is a short code generated by the app itself, used alongside the MAC address to identify your installation. It changes if you uninstall and reinstall the app, which invalidates any existing registration and means registering again.

Yes. Send us the MAC address and device key shown on your television screen and we will load your playlist against them. It is a common request and usually takes a minute during support hours.

They are separate applications with separate activations, so a playlist registered against one will not appear in another. Install a single version, note exactly which it is, and register against that one. Remove any others to avoid confusion.

On an Android box or Firestick, TiviMate is free for a single playlist and has a considerably better programme guide. IBO is most useful on Samsung and LG televisions, where the choice of players is limited and better apps often will not install.

WE'LL SET IT UP

Send your MAC & key

Message us with the two values from your television screen and we'll register your playlist for you, usually within minutes.

What we supply. IPTV Ireland provides subscription access and playlist credentials. IBO Player and its variants are third-party applications made by another company — we neither develop nor distribute them, any activation fee they charge is theirs rather than ours, and this guide simply shows you how to configure them. Our support covers anything server-side. App names, menu paths and activation websites are set by the app developer and may change.
